Yeah i was out walking the mutt and felt the breeze pick up alright.
They must be weak CC strikes.Not getting much of a signal.Poxy mountains.:rolleyes:

Just the storm in the celtic sea im picking up.

some of the lightning is directly overhead here now.
The storm is definitely pushing north

Seems to be alot of high altitude lightning...

Seen a lightning ball dart across the sky, about 1 mile up and three to five miles east... WOW!

The lightning is constant snowbie and very bright.
It's the most unusual lightning I've ever seen snowbie its circular and rolling.

I'd say its connected into the storm that you are having Danno and this is only the start of it... :eek:


Yeah snowbie this is storm number 7 here this summer,I've certainly seen an unusual amount of lighning this year.

The lights are browning out here now.

Yup Danno balled lightning and its rolling across the sky.
It's very rare,its the sort of stuff you'd see in florida.

Definitely pushing north snowbie but what the wicklow mts will do to it I dont know.

It's very high,but some of it is very low too.

Rained here very heavy for 5 minutes, gusting winds too, thought a twister was coming!!!

You are right about it, high and low altitude lightning mixed. It must have been a low fork that knocked out the power here...

Thats an electrical storm you are getting.
Its from the bay of biscay,they are usually quiet high based and Thundery.
Do you here a lot of thunder with this? or none at all.
The air is positively charged when it electrical,the detector does not pick up positive sigs in these,only the negative sigs of most storms with the LD-250.
That would be another reason i am not getting strikes from where you are.

A fair bit I'd say,there appears to be a lot of activity upwind of us down to the south.
Lightning now is lighting up the whole countryside and the yard.

The thunder is constant snowbie but its a low grumbling indicative of how high most of the lightning is.
It will crash and bang when its centred over us.

Long,very long noisy thunder now amongst the constant non stop lower rumbling.
Theres lightning every 5 or ten seconds.

I can confirm Danno's reports of lightning sighted in Laois. Looked out the window here (Portlaoise) to the south a while ago and saw a few distant, occassional flashes but in the past 10 or 15 minutes or so it's started to become more frequent and a lot brighter too. I can only guess from that that it's getting closer then. Haven't heard any thunder here yet, though.

Clear patch in the sky showed some stars for a few minutes, now all of a sudden, downpour! This is MAD!

Web page is grand, nothing was detected for about 5 minutes, then the strikes went wild again!

I've been seeing the lightening for about 30 minutes. No sound yet, but looks fairly high.

Non stop flashing.

Approaching fast and quick here (Carlow town), the clouds are lighting up roughly to my SSE, no rumbles that I can hear as of yet.

Looking at the radar, it seems that these showers are moving Wexford to Galway in direction...
