Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I hope some can help me. My Acer Travelmate 290 laptop wont boot into windows. I am able to access the bios. I'm pretty sure the filesystem on my harddrive is corrupt or the harddrive is damaged. I am thinking the reason the harddrive is damaged is due to overheating. The laptop fan does not spin anymore and the bottom of the laptop becomes very hot after about 15 minutes of use i.e when formatting the harddrive (formatting usually gets to 40% and then stalls). I know the harddrive is still spinning as i was able to recover all my data using knoppix.

Can anyone advise me how to test the laptop fan without booting to windows? I can boot to recovery console.

Also if anyone has any other advise on what may be wrong i'd appreciate it.

    Thanks
    ik
