Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ricky & Necromomicon you are nearly as sad as me (I associate this thread with it being nearly dark by Final Score and the sound of Sports Report of Five Live, roll on the winter!) :)

well, as much as i delight in seeing this thread, i wish it was summertime all your round. i'm not a winter person, i love being able to stay outside playing soccer or golf till 11 in the evening and it being bright at 4 am, when i wander home after a night out drinking.

I wish we could have both worlds tbh, The premiership season and all year long summertime daylight hours :D

Arsenal have a lot of injury problems (what's new?) and given that it's a new season, new stadium, and Villa have a new manager, I'll be very relieved if we get any kind of home win. I think it could be difficult.

    Liverpool starting 11!

    Reina
    Kromkamp-Carra-Hyypia-Aurelio
    Gerrard-Sissoko-Zenden-Riise
    Fowler-Bellamy

Aurelio and Riise may play other way round.

    Mike.

    But no Finnan!

Finnan played for ireland on Wednesday and is probably being rested for champions league on wednesday.

Alonso just didn't look fit enough the last couple of games.

Interesting to see Pennant on the bench and not starting. He has played really well in the Community Shield and the CL Qualifier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

Very very physical midfield from Liverpool. I think thats why hes chosen it. Pennant to come on for Zenden. Gerrard will then move in centre. Crouch to come on for Fowler & Gonzalez to come on for Aurilo.

Seen the Replay, he could have broken it or done the ligaments.

Well he was in some amount of pain and didn't look at all comfortable on the stretcher. Time will tell I guess.

    Hope he's alright.

Probably Ligaments in Riise's ankle, Carra still looks to be limping.

Just mentioned that the pitch has been narrowed by a few yards, it looks like United reckon they'll get the most out of games by denying the opposition space to play. That and hacking them down.

Agger now coming on. Half the defence shredded already.

    Mike.

pool most likely to score still. i reckon if we get one, we could break their spirit. a few might go in then. but the longer they hold out.....

Not that physical, really, Pool look like scoring but Ifill and a few others have quick feet which Hypia doesn't seem to like.

Injury news in: Two twisted ankles.

Sheff UTD have x-ray facilities at the ground!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Sheffield's wingers are constantly hounding 'Pools full-backs, so no time to stroke the ball about.

Is Zenden even playing? He really needs start bursting forward like he did for 'Boro in CM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭MrJoeSoap

The last time I said this at half-time in a Liverpool game, they went on to score three and win the Champions League. So here it goes...

    Gerrard has been anonymous.
