Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    krompkamp---hypia---agger---aurlio

Quite a different back 4 to last season!

Liverpool havent really showed up yet, fairly crap peformance in first half. I dont see why Rafa rates Zenden at all.

I think Pool have to be patient, the goal looked more like coming as the half wore on.

    Mike.

    nice header

    terrible defending

Aurellio fell asleep, free header. Good to have the Premiership back :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Dire defending from Aurellio and Agger, watching both their players wander in to the 6 yard box. Agger was terrible for Chelseas goal in the shield as well. He stood watching Carra withShevchenko and drogba(iirc) in a 2 on 1.

Kromkamp is waaaaaaaaaay off the pace.

I think Pennant should be the last sub.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

God that was an awful goal to give away, you know Zenden is a good player but I don't think CM is his best position imo.

    Expect Crouch very soon.

BTW I have updated the live stream thread, this game and Arsenal and Villa game can been seen online, good quality too with English commentary.

i wish they would stop falling over in the box

    Keith Gillespie!?!?!

Yep Gillespie on, nice piece of defending too. I honestly can't understand why all the Liverpool players are falling, surely they should be able to get suitable footwear really stupid.

Would rather see pennant than crouch. get a few decent crosses in. Let him go past people and whip stuff in. Just wouldnt feel confident of a goal from crouch (not that I ever am).
For a tough tackling midfielder, Sissoko is far far too quick to take a dive.

Have to disagree Liverpool are just firing high balls in and neither Fowler or Bellamy are winning anything, no point bringing in Pennant to cross balls if Fowler or Bellamy aren't going to win them.

nice show of gonzalez's pace there.

You have seen crouchs attempts at heading a ball havnt you? He's quite possibly the worst header of a ball I've seen.

hint of the Gattuso incident about it. Both were last men and should have went if a peno was given

Can someone tell me how the Ref can award a penalty but not a red card????

Bloody referee's 70 minutes into the first game and already their getting major decisions wrong.

A red card is given is if you deny the opposition a clear goal scoring oppurtunity, I fail to see how a penalty isn't a clear goal scoring oppurtunity. It was a joke of penalty anyway.

    I love the footy.

What was I doing with my saturdays all summer???

Robbie getting back some karma from the couple of perfectly good goals he had taken off him last season?

well if we're gonna make a sub - now's the time - i still think pennant would have more impact.

    agreed.

Someone show agger and aurelio how to mark and pick up players. They both seem to have an attitude of picking a player to mark and not picking anyone else up even if they are about to run through on goal.

EDIT. Pennant on the way. yay.

I don't think Kromkamp or Agger are good enough for this team tbh.

Looks like you'll get your way stekelly, Pennant is warming up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

For fowler tho? I would have thought a defender and go for the game.

Agree on agger and kromkamp. Looks like finnan is on easy street again this season as far as keeping his place goes.

    Dissapointing result. Poor team perfromance.

Well done to Sheff UTD though - worked very hard for it.

Very poor start for title contenders, got desperate too soon and didn't play any really good football. Still need to strengthen at the back imo, Injury to Hypia or Carra leaves them very weak.
Kuyt should help give them some good options though.

    embarassing. not good enough

Meh. Some games you just take what you can get. The Blades will not be an adornment to the Prem. More of a nuisance!

    Mike.

A joke. Kromcrap is a disgrace. I'd prefer to have djimi in the team then him. We looked so off the pace, unreal. You'd swear it was sheffield who had the 2 competitive games instead of us.

i agree with that too an extent, but after the fa cup a couple of years ago, rafa should have known what to expect from teams like this.

i wouldnt have started aurelio in a match like this in a million years
