    A new degree course?
That’s the first I’ve heard of it and my younger brother just qualified/graduated from the honours degree course there (five years altogether). Make sure you know all about it before you accept because they have the habit of packaging an old course up in a clean cover and calling it new. Be wary!

AFAIK the civil engineers are there for the completion of their studies. Is there a way to transfer to another college after two or three years? If that was on your mind, find out.

If you do accept then apparently you won’t be disappointed. My bro had a job offered to him months before his finals on the condition that he passed his final year; he did quite well. He will be working for consultancy firm and they do make a lot of money if you didn’t already know.

A sizeable amount starts up on their own after a few years. The course is the equal to anywhere else and the jobs are not limited to consultancy.

Here's an interesting story. When Computers first came to Ireland, they needed people for the programming industry. Now, obviously, there were no CS or CA students back then. So do you know who got the jobs? Who were taken on into high paying jobs in one of the biggest growth industries? Logic graduates from Maynooth. People who'd gotten asked the exact question you just asked. They were offered free programming training and a job.

So, the way I see it, you should do what you enjoy. You never know what'll happen.
