Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. the layout of my apartment means i can't get use 5.1 speakers (or get the yamaha sound projector). what are the best 2.1 speakers you can get for a tv/dvd setup for < €200?

Could or should I get 2.1 pc speakers? was thinking maybe

    or
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=317774 (know they're 2.0 but they seem good)

is 200 enough for half-decent speakers for a telly?

What are the speakers for exactly? the sound effects from DVD? normal TV? music as well?

Will you be using an amp?

If so, get some proper speakers.

for watching TV and films on dvd. would also be plugging in the ipod - thats why i was thinking the pc speakers would be good.

so ur pretty much saying that pc speakers wouldnt be up to the job? i thought maybe they wouldnt be alright (otherwise they'd advertise them as being home theatre speakers i spose!).

those speakers u recommend are a bit large - they wouldn't fit very well into the room. so i guess all floorstanders are out of the question - sorry, should have said that.

would something like these be any use do u reckon http://www.richersounds.ie/asp/product.asp?ObjectID=938&Mode=0&CategoryID=5&SUB=32&ProductID=85?

    Excelent choice Sir.

I only picked out the floorstanders to illustrate the "power" you can get for the same price if you go with an amp. Bookshelf speakers would be fine too, just less bass.

An amp is great and a very neat way of switching audio (and video depending) sources.
