Admins online status

why do all admins (as far as I can see anyway) hide their online status? I only ask because if there is a question I wish to put to them via PM, I do not know who is on and who is not, so I don't know who to ask for a speedy reply.

It doesn't really matter if they are online or not, you'll get varied responses from them and users in general whether or not they are on or offline. This isn't irc or msn.
