Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have a 2mb broadband connection, currently wired directly to my netopia (broadband) router thru ethernet port on my laptop (WHICH RUNS AT 100mbs)

my laptop has wireless built in (WHICH RUNS AT 56mbs), if i purchase a wireless router will my connection speed to internet drop. ie if i change from a 100mbs connection (ethernet) to a 56mbs wireless.

    Thanks
    Ken:confused:

Yep, wireless is slower alright, not a big deal when you're browsing the 'net but noticeable if you're trying to download anything bulky.

Nope, not at all 54Mbps is still a lot faster than your 2Mbps internet connection. The only loss you'll see is if you're transferring huge files from PC to PC. If you used wireless (54Mbps) it will be slower than a 100Mbps wired connection between the two pcs. But I'm guessing you're not doing that too often. ;)

So short answer, you won't notice any loss od performance, provided your wireless signal is good.

No you won't. The wireless is always going to be running faster than the internet connection. The internet connection is the bottleneck, not the wireless.

Was talking about speeds between the modem and the PC- its definitely a lot slower than using a patch lead. Especially with the Netopia modems- they're rubbish. Took me some time to extract RAR files from my torrent machine across the wireless, compared to just lashing in a crosswire.

Ah right, your post sounded like you meant download from internet.
