You can buy a deckle and mould (or d. & frame, same thing) from big craft shops, or from Specialist Crafts in Galway (091 768809), they do mail order, www.specialistcrafts.ie. The ready made ones are expensive though (smallish one 62 euros from SC).

There are good instructions in a book called Origami and Papercraft by Paul Jackson and Vivien Frank (try the local library, ask if they will order it for you). Also good instructions for making paper from really basic to quite elaborate. You could make a d & m yourself if you are a bit handy and have some basic woodworking tools (saw, screwdriver and possibly a drill.) You don't have to buy the special net, plain, fine curtain net - preferably new (unused) will do. If you are still interested ( I see you posted in August) I'll give you some instructions, but you really need a book or someone to show you to start with.

Dont spend your money on an expensive decal if you are just experimenting. All you need is two frames the same size, Muslin, a water resistant glue adhesive and a stapler gun. Stretch the muslin over one of the frames and secure with a few staples. Made sure the cloth is taught. Then where the muslin touches the frame coat with the waterproof/ resistant adhesive. This stops the lint from getting in between the frame and muslin when you are drawing up the paper. Use the other frame to place over the decal to give a straight edge.

    Simple as that!!!
