"Microsoft has scored another major coup in the next-gen battle, revealing today that both Pro Evolution 6 and FIFA 2007 will be available on only one next-gen format – Xbox 360."

Big news for Microsoft with no major football titles out for the PS3 till next christmas.

i bet EA will get around it by release FIFA road to european cup, or FIFA aftermath of the World CUP

or some other little title. As with all fifa games it will be the same game, just with some graphical updating.

    Wow, impressive!

Wonder to a certain extent, it's because developers find it easier to develop their games on the 360? We all know the main reason, M$ bottomless pockets :D But you still wonder....

There'll be no PS3 versions in 2006, not for 12 months. That's being misreported. Also worth saying explicitly that the current-gen versions are still obviously coming.

You can probably bet on Fifa 07 hitting PS3 by Spring at the latest.

PES is basically still just the current gen game so there isn't much point in porting it up to make it look just slightly better than the PS2 game would playing back on a PS3 (because that's what the 360 version looks like right now - the PS2 game in HD with slightly better graphics).

Asides from all that though, this is old news. MS is just now getting around to making PR capital out of it though :p

edit - actually it IS a 12 month thing afterall. EA was sending out mixed messages initially on it.

Wow, this story doesn't stop. As it turns out, PES is not exclusive for 12 months afterall, just for this year. Apparently Microsoft's claims have pissed off Konami quite a bit.

Now, however, we're starting to hear a different story. Speaking with Winning Eleven producer/creator Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka earlier today, we learned that Microsoft made claims that were untrue. "The presentation was misleading," he told us. "We never said exclusive for one year on the next-gen platforms. We said this year. We were agreed that it was this year."

According to Takatsuka, Microsoft's claims have caused some issues for Konami (with Sony, no doubt), and he definitely wants to set the record straight.
The PS3 version could ship as early as next spring, he admitted, though no timeframe has been set yet.

The article goes on to say that Fifa may not be a 12 month exclusive either.

Well if there both out for xmas, only on the 360, MS will still be happy with that :D

:) "Now, however, we're starting to hear a different story". Wednesday, August 23...
"Microsoft owns football," Chris Lewis told journalists at a German games conference. Various media outlets have reported the exclusive as “12-month” deal. Eurogamer.net attributes it to Lewis, but a Microsoft press release merely states “this year”.

It's like GTA at E3 all over again.

According to GameInformer, Fifa is not exclusive for 12 months either.

So basically each company is planning to release either a PS3 or Wii footie title before this supposed 12 month time period ends. It's not shocking Microsoft would want to make such an announcement in Germany, as soccer in Europe is the country's most popular sport. But it looks like Microsoft jumped the gun as both publishers are denying that this will hold up.

    What a mess
