Knackers aren't a race, so I don't see how it can be deemed racist to criticise them.

That's my point! It's not falling under that bugaboo of racism -> it's acceptable to talk about wiping people out and such! Maybe people are joking, maybe my sense of humour is crap - but I don't find it funny really.
It would appear that the riots in France were a direct result of some social injustice (perceived or otherwise) that exists in that society.
Knackers, on the other hand, are not rebelling against what they see as some inequality; they’re just being pricks for the sake of it.

Admit it, plenty of the rioters probably couldn't give two shíts about actually changing society or fixing injustice - they probably enjoyed rioting!
Is there official govt. discrimination against these people in France which really would warrent such rioting and mayhem ala the Southern States in the US? - I doubt it.
Whether you can excuse what they do and come up with reasons, the random gougers harassing people on the street in Dublin, the more organised riots in Paris are symptoms of a similar kind of problem really.
As for solutions? I don't feel like getting into that really. Too much like hard work.
Maybe later if the thread's not dead.

Yes but when student engange in bad behaviour at least it's in the name of fun. Some of these guys have anger issues. Still, the Dublin chav/ scumbag is an institution and most of them are the kind of people we love to hate, i think - not all 'scumbags are 'scumbags'.

That's true about the students ... any bad behaviour .. sure it's just in the name of fun .... sure just ask Brian Murphy.
