San Andreas glitch?

I had a bit of a gambling problem, and ended up being in debt by $1 million dollars (which is the most you can be in debt by) It was a little annoying, because a gang would always come after you to kill you, and it meant I couldn't buy a thing (food, clothes, guns, etc.) Anyway, I was very slowly clawing some cas htogether through missions, exports, etc. until suddenly one day I notice that the debt had been wiped out and I was at $0. Is this a glitch, or is it supposed to happen after a certain amount of time?

While I was in debt, whenever I went into a gym it said "You've worked out enough today, blah blah blah" even though I hadn't worked out at all. I thought this was something to do with having no money and having to pay to use the gym, but now that my debt has been cleared, I still get the message. Is there anything I need to do to change this, or is that aspect of the game ****ed now? CJ needs to work out. He's a skinny bastard.

I'm playing on PS2 by the way.

Even in real life once you get a reputation as being a dead beat it can be hard to lose it:P

Hmmm, not sure about your debt being wiped but you seem to have the infamous gym glitch. It's supposed to be caused by going for too long without eating, basically saving the game without eating after getting the message which prompts you to do so. There's no sure way of fixing it but it can be prevented by keeping fat on CJ at all times and eating regularly. The solutions which might work include changing appearance completely, or eating and saving several times so that a few days pass.

Of course beyond the gym it doesn't affect the gameplay, you can gain muscle in other ways, though it takes longer. Swimming, running fast and cycling will build up muscle if you are stuck with the glitch. Or you could start a new game and prevent it from happening.

lol I've never seen that... usually when I lose big at the casino, I just don't bother saving it (cheat-ish I know, but who wants to be a cool million in the hole)
Must try that now... though I'll have to get rid of the 3million I have first... hmmm... 1 million on double zero please :D

I love the "reload and bet on 12/1 odds horse in the bookies" trick, it's like having a time machine!

    9 million dollars baby!

PC version, my sound is crappy, sometimes it fades up and down, or is crackly. Maybe it's just my onboard AC97 audio? :(

They fixed some of the buggy sound crap in a patch... same patch that disables the hot coffee mod from working.

Thanks for the info. That's exactly how it was caused. It was partly just never feeding him, and then obviously, afterwards, I couldn't afford to feed him.

By the way, I haven't tried this but I would imagine the best way to make money in the game is counting cards in blackjack.

And from personal experience, that's the best way to fall $1 million in debt in the game ;)

Actually, the blackjack isn't as bad as you think - the guy you're playing against is stupid. He will keep hitting regardless if his total is below 17. So if you have 12, and he has 13, even though he has already beaten you, he'll keep hitting until he's got a total above 17 - so the chances of him going bust are high. Doesn't always happen but you win more than you lose.

    Found this on gamefaqs.com -
    Get out of debt trick
To get out of debt, no matter how far you are in, find a Unique Stunt Jump that you haven\'t been rewarded on yet. Hit the jump and you will be rewarded. However, this causes your money counter to reset to all zeroes.

I guess that's probably what happened to me then.

Do gangs come after you when you're in debt? Which gang? A sort of casino one?

Yeah, you'll occassionally get phone calls from the casino owner (can't remember who) reminding you to pay your debt. And fairly often, a black car will chase you or crash into you, and 3 or 4 guys with assaut rifles will get out and shoot the **** out of you.

no that is casino rules blackjack

the dealer must call on anything less than 17.

anyone notice just how many times the dealer can get 20 if you have 19 or 21 if you have 20?

There's loads of them all along the strip. They probably won't be accessible to you until you complete a few missions.

Your luck in the casinos is affected by the number of horseshoes you find around Las Venturas. The more you have, the better the odds become for you.
