Root Infection?

    Hi,

I had a root canal done on my front top tooth over a year ago. I chipped the tooth over the weekend and last night there was a small white "spot" on my gum at the top of the tooth with pus in it.

Is the tooth infected? It's not very painful, I burst the spot and it didn't come back.

Am I right to be extremely worried?

BTW, have an appointment woth the dentist today, just really nervous about the whole thing.

Ugh, have an abcess. Need to get another root canal done.
Seeing as I thought I'd have to get it pulled it's not too bad :)

Good thing you noticed it though, abcesses can do a lot of horrible damage to your jaw bone!

I do not know how to post a new post, so If I may, I will like to ask a question about root canals. My dentist treated me for a root canal and knowing I had an abscess he sealed the tooth anyway (after the treatment) and sent me home. The next day the side of my mouth started to swall and it got bigger by the minute. I called him and told him and he said that was normal and I asked if I should take antibiotics and he said it was not necessary, I insisted and he prescribed antibiotics. By the time I started to take the antibiotics my mouth was really swallon. To make a long story short, after two different dosages of antibiotics the swalling started to go down, but now I have a lump there that will not go down. Does anyone know why? The dentist says is normal. (I don't trust that dentist anymore)
