    Just how important are the following when choosing an LCD?

    - 16.2 million colours and not 16.7 million
    - Refresh rate (what to look for?)
    - Brightness and Contrast: what are good values?
    - When you want to use it for games and video editing, and it only has an analogue input? Would anyone even notice the difference between and analogue and dvi connection? (e.g. im using a 6600GT which has both dvi and d sub)

    Thanks

    - 16.2 million colours and not 16.7 million

    Depends in the line of work your in I guess, some monitors can dither the colours better than others so the difference is neglegible. On the other hand some are worse than others and the difference can be pronounced.
    - Refresh rate (what to look for?)

    Generally the lower the better but the topic is complicated not least by different interpretations of the response time by various manufacturers. If were to give a 'rough guess' from what I've seen generally anything above 8ms can be noticed in gaming with some ghosting or blurring.
    - Brightness and Contrast: what are good values?

    The higher the better, though of course there are limits to technology so this varies wildly between panels.
    - When you want to use it for games and video editing, and it only has an analogue input? Would anyone even notice the difference between and analogue and dvi connection? (e.g. im using a 6600GT which has both dvi and d sub)

    Analogue input should be fine, DVI would just offer a sharper/clearer picture though.

    Any display you are planning to buy make sure you read a review of it beforehand, good places to check are;
