    Hi,

I want to sand down a bass drum, wondering which would be best to go for, a normal sander or a precision one? I would prefer to get the normal sander because it would be useful for future use, but would it be difficult to sand a round piece of wood with one. Would the precision make the job alot easier? Below are the argos ones im thinkin off ! I know their cheap ones but I dont do much sanding !!

    Normal sander: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7104985.htm

    Precision sander: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7105317.htm

    Thanks.

Before running out to buy something, why exactly are you sanding the drum down? Is it to recoat it with lacquer/enamel? Or for some other purpose?
Is the surface goiing to be difficult to get at with the metal "struts" in the way?

Christ that precision sander is nearly as cheap as the paper it uses, how do they make a profit on them, anyway, for occasional sanding the precision will be fine. I recently used one with rough paper to remove varnish and pencil marks from wood and it took seconds. For occasional use you can't go wrong at a tenner.
