Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What is the best way to apply for a driving test? I know you can do it online but I have a letter from my employer. Should I just send the form with the letter in the post? I'm looking to get it as soon as possible so I'm just wondering what is the best way to do this?

I had my driving test on Monday. My insurance expired last Tuesday, new disk got sent to house in Donegal and was delayed being resent to dublin in the post - didn't get it in time for the test, and, although I had a letter from Quinn Direct to explain the situation and confirming cover, the tester wouldn't let me go out in the car - fair enough. Anyway, he gave me a note, and told me to fill in the application and explain what happened - he said if I got a letter from my employer asking for a quick test, I'd probably get one in a month or two.

so, thats a long way of saying, get the letter and post it in.

Why didn't QD not just re-issue the disk?

I dunno - I asked them to, but the girl at the Blanch office told me they couldn't. I explained the situation, and she said a letter would be fine. I just assumed she'd seen the situation before - my fault of course. If I'd known, I would have been more persistent asking for the disk. The bitch of it was, got home from the test around mid-day, and guess what was waiting for me.

ahh - it was a lot of things really. waiting sixty weeks for a test and getting it the week the insurance expired, 1 envelope taking four days to get from Letterkenny to Swords, it's my own fault really - should have checked the insurance when I got notified of the test and sorted it then..

Went through the fast test route recently myself.

Rang up someone i know in the central test office (or whatever its called) and got a few pointers.

The best way is to post the letter in with your application and a cover note including a couple of key phrases.

1.)State the dates you are available to take the test and a reason that you must have it by a certain date..

eg. I cant take the test until the 13th due to work commitments but for the same reason require my licence by the 8th

2.) Say you will take a cancellation

3.) Say that you would be available anytime including evenings

As far as i know they dont do tests in the evenings but apparently its good to say.

4.) Say that you will take a Sunday time

Again as far as i know they dont do tests on a sunday but aparently its also good to say to speed things up.

I sent all this in and got a test date 3 1/2 weeks after dropping the letter in the postbox :D

    Good luck.
