I'd like a ballpark figure of how much you reckon this work is going to cost for a 97D Mazda MX-3:

    General service
    Timing Belt replacement
    Back box of exhaust replacement

It's being done by a mechanic I trust, not going to be ripped off just want an idea for budgeting!
    Thanks

Before I throw out figures, does your car have the rotary/wankel engine???

    It's a standard engine, not a rotary

I'd say exhaust back box, about 90 Euro to 120 Euro

Service, should expect to pay about 160 Euro to 210 Euro

Timing belt (if he is going to do it properly and change timing belt, timing belt tensioners and water pump): could be anything from 200 Euro to 500 Euro depending on cost of parts.

Let me know how close I am when the bill comes in!

will do mate, nice one - I'd say you're close enough, hopefully a bit high!

Darragh29 is in the right ball park I reckon. Of course it depends where you get it done. I've seen independents in the center of town charge much more.

    Close enough alright!

The total work that needed to be done:
    Full service
    Exhaust replacement
    Timing belt replacement
    Rear brake pads
    Rear light bulb

    Cost: 530

    Was very happy overall
