Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

TV Transmit (short Range)

    Not sure if this exists -

    I am moving into a new apartment with a tv in the main living room. My room is fairly large and i have a tv for it - but i was told there is no tv connection in the room...

    So my question is:

    Can i get some sort of doo-hickey (technical term) that will take a signal from the wall socket - and will transmit to my tv and i can also run a cable through it into the existing tv in the living room?

    What i have done is , assuming you also have a video/dvd player in the main living room , is just get a video sender doo-hickey from argos plug the transmitter into the tv output of the said video/dvd player and plug the receiver of the doo-hickey into the tv in your room.

    Tune in the video/dvd player to whatever channel you want to watch and just make sure the player is powered on , this should transmit the signal to your tv in your room.

    One useful feature of some of these doo-hickeys is the ability to change channels in which case eg. you are tuned into sky you can just get an extra remote and change the sky channels from your room as well , or even change the channel on your video/dvd player.

    Does this mean that when i change the channel in the bedroom - that the channel also changes in the main room - i assume it does. Sound like the only / best solution to the problem - thanks chopster.

    If you do as Chopster suggests (using a video sender through a VCR) then only the stations in the VCR will be changed from upstairs.

    It won't affect what's being watched on your main telly.

    As i said if the vcr is tuned into sky , you can aim the little infra red channel changer transmitter thingy to your sky box ( assuming you have one ) and so you can change the sky channel .

    Of course as byte says if the tv in the main room is actually tuned in to say another channel other than the vcr channel then it won't affect what's being watched there .

    Yeah, you need one IR thingy attached to Skybox, another to VCR, so you can control both from bedroom.
