Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Someone said three are reading these threads. So here's my two cents.

Made this point in the unlocking 3 thread. Just to reiterate; I'll join once you allow me full access to the web on your phones. It's pointless having these handset crippled in such a way. I don't understand the logic, someone like me will never buy music/content from your portal. So why restrict a potential source of revenue. Are your phones just aimed at teens-What about us 20 year olds and up? I do use Google A LOT, as well as text a huge amount and rarely talk. I'm sure i'm not the only one.

Add your name to this if you agree.

Its the norm of their service in all the country's they operate, but I';m sure they'll make the exception in Ireland because a few people have requested it on boards.ie

Good luck with your campaign your going to need it,

it is a very odd policy. the phones can handle it and there's no technical reason not to. i suppose they pay a lot for the content they provide and if they gave full access no one would use it.

i think its funny that they advertise the comedy stuff on the tv because they haven't updated it since the day they launched

I've made this point months ago. I use my phone for business. The walled garden is little more than a toy to me.

I would have been a 3 customer since day 1 if they had offered me internet access instead of their walled garden. What's funny is that offering the internet would cost them very little, whereas they have to pay for the content on their walled garden.

I guess they don't want to get any customers? Funny. Perhaps that's why they so closely guard their customer numbers.

I’d like to switch over to 3, but I use my mobile to access a number of servers remotely, so a walled garden approach would rule that out.

The reasoning I was given by an exec from 3, a few years back, was that it was to protect subscribers from adult content, which I did not, and still do not, believe. Personally I believe it simply comes down to their trying to retain a monopoly on content, which probably won’t last forever due to both commercial and regulatory pressures (don't hold your breath though).

Anyhow, these related articles may interest people:

Like Corintian, I need to log into some servers on my phone, but I didn't know about the walled garden last week when I bought a 6280 with 3. This is no good for me, so I'll have to get onto 3 and request that they unlock the phone so that I can switch to a network that allows real internet access.

I was the one who said 3 read the boards, and in one of the many 3 threads, I posted a "message" to the 3 staff that do read the forums. In fact I also said to one of their reps shortly after joining the network to keep an eye on boards.ie because everything and anything is discussed here. I also summed up the 3 main points (pun not intended) that 3 need to address on one of those other threads.

On that note, Corinthian, could you merge some of those 3 threads or something, there's at least 2 about the same topic.

well that's definitely not true because 3's walled garden in england offers porn. they do want a monopoly
