First off be aware that those Asus boards have a noisy chipset fan which tends to fail after a while so get a replacement heatsink ready just in case or get a different motherboard.

The Opteron is obviously for overclocking but if you plan on using it at stock speeds it is not good value for money.

As for a dual GPU mid-range setup like an SLI 6600GT it entirely depends how cheap you can get them if you are paying near full price get an SLI 7600GS setup instead. It should cost the same or even less, you can get them new for around €115 and is faster than the SLI 6600GT setup and a single 7600GT.

Thanks for yor reply. I dont mind if the board/cpu isnt great value for money as i prob wont overclock it but i can get it off a friend sort of and its less hassle and i want a system quickly.
Hes giving me a Zaplon(spelling?) heatsink/fan or something or other for it.
I had a look at the 7600Gs card you mentioned but its E115/140 at cheapest i can find by looking at komplett/marx-computers plus postage. My budget is about 70/80 maybe 100 if new.

    Is the 7300Gs worthwhile?
    Geforce 7300GS PCIExpress 256MB
    Sparkle SP-PX73SDH Ultra2
    Geforce 7300GS 256MB PCI Express 16x
    High-speed DDR2 memory interfaces
    VGA (DSUB15), DVI-I and HDTV-out
(with integrated HDTV encoder up to 1080i)
Supports dual display, DirectX9c and OpenGL 2
    Windows 2000, XP home/Pro
    Euro 99.00 inc VAT

Can i stick any 2 of the same Pci Express cards into this board or do they have to specifically say Sli ready in the gfx cards express. I notice some pic express cards state sli ready hile others dont.

Ps: i can get the below for E80, you think thats an ok deal?
