Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

West Ham in takeover discussions

    From the BBC website:

    West Ham in takeover discussions

West Ham are having "exploratory discussions" over a possible takeover.

The move comes hot on the heels of the club luring Argentine pair
Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to the club.

"Discussions are at an early stage and there can be no certainty that
an offer for West Ham will be forthcoming," said a club statement to
    the Stock Exchange.

"The board also confirms that there is no contractual link between the
signing of the players (Tevez and Mascherano) and the bid discussions."

So, is this MSI? If so, isn't that last paragraph untrue? And isn't knowinlgy declaring false info to the StocK Exchange an offence? Which suggests it *isn't* MSI...
I'm pretty sure most West Ham fans (me included) expected something like this...

No shocks there. Tevez and Mascherano are an amazing goodwill gesture though!

    The mystery deepens...
    Again from the BBC:
Media Sports Investment (MSI) owned the rights to the Argentine stars, who signed from Corinthians on transfer deadline day.

MSI have a stake in the Brazilian club and Kia Joorabchian is the company's president.

MSI pulled out of a potential takeover of the Hammers in November 2005 after failing to agree a price with the club's directors.

West Ham would not be drawn on revealing who they were in discussions with about the possible takeover.

But Joorabchian told BBC Radio Five Live on Thursday: "MSI is a company that will not invest in European football as such by investing in a club, so that speculation is out for sure."

Of course, what was said on Thursday is often denied on Friday!

One explanation of this whole business is that MSI gave the two lads to the hammers in exchange for stock with the intention of following up with a takeover bid.

From a post I made in the Man United Transfer rumours thread yesterday:
West Ham are most likely going to be bought out by the company that had the signatures of Tevez and Mascherone. Hence the reason why these players moved there and the serious lack of a signing fee being disclosed.
The club are in a better position with these players there, and why not bring them in before the club was bought out to improve the clubs chances of doing well. Since they (MSI) already "owned" the players this would be cheap to do.
Mark my words there is a hell of a lot more to happen regarding West Ham in the next few weeks. Of course I have no link, this is a news and speculation on my part.

I can pretty much say with 95% certainity that MSI will have bought out West Ham in the next few weeks-there are many clauses etc involved in their transfer.
Best of luck to West Ham with the whole business, I hope they go from strength to strength.

while MSI wont buy them, maybe Joorabchain will - he is apparently very wealthy. i do agree there has to be more to Tevez and Masechranos signings then meets the eye. but as a person who has always liked the hammers - i am chuffed for them.
