Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I know this might have been asked before but i can't find a straight forward awnser. Are paintball markers under 1 jule legal to own with out a license?

Personaly I don't think they are same as I don't think airsoft are legal but can you guys put me straight. I know this has been asked before but mostly it's been about airsoft and not paintball.

I know there's a law stating that if under 1 jule they are not classified as guns but are there other classifications that are illegal. For example are Paintball markers in there own classification no matter what FPS they are.

This is for Southern Ireland not NI.

Well from what ive heard bout them. yes technically they would be legal if under 1 joule but ya probably cudnt hit your outstretched hand with that power due to the weigth of the paintball itself. paintball guns need a much higher power level than 1 joule more like 2.5 or 3 from what ive been told.
Anyway alot more people here could give ya the facts and figures but from the little i know 1 joule firing a 68 cal ball aint worth it :(

Simply- Paintball markers do not fall under the one joule energy bracket.

Hence they are still seen as a fire arm and you need a license or authorisation to buy one.

Oh ok I see what I was looking at. It's energy not speed. So when some one says that a paintball marker fires at 250FPS and 1 jule = 328 fps they are not the same thing. One is energy and one is speed correct?

yup thats pretty much it ,the 328fps figure is when 1 is using a 0.2 gram bb , the same speed when using a heavier paintball round would cause a velocity greater then 1 joule so its airsoft r nothing basically ;)
