PHP GD image manipulation question

hi,
im trying to find out how to take an image (eg 150 x150) and crop it to display an image 150x100.
i cant find any tutorial anywhere on teh web and cant figure it out.
anyone have any ideas please?

tnx - they are all code to resize down an image (keeping the same dimensions) .. thumbnails

i want to take and image .. a square and cut the top rectangle out of it...
