I know quite a few people on here workin in the trade so could I get a rough trade in value on this...

    2001 Peugeot 206 Gti
    Black
    39000 Miles
Full Peugeot Service History(timing belt done about 5000 miles ago)
Very good condition, no scrapes or knocks
All usual extras.. half leather, cd changer, alarm and imobiliser etc..

What type of trade in would I get on this?

No "sell it privately" replies and the like please.

The trade in value is dependent on what you're trading it in against. The best advice anyone can give you is to shop around. And yes, you would get quite a bit more if you sold it privately.;)

Any GTI's I've priced aren't worth any more than standard models in the trade. (Make of that what you will)

What would that put it at then?

    CBG compare price said:

    Average Price for 2001 Peugeot 206 - 3 Dr in Ireland: €8,695

Which seems about right for a private sale but what would a garage give as a trade in? Any idea?

It depends what you're trading it in against!!:)

True, I'm just rambling on here I guess. Cheers for the advice anyway, private sale might be the best way.

My guess is that you should get about €7,500 as a trade in, but it's only a guess. depends on where you're trading it in.

Compaired to trading in against a :-

Know which one i'd have, how does it affect trade in though ?

The trade in you get depends on a few factors. the first being how much margin the dealer has built into his price and how eager he is to sell. The second factor is the kind of cars the dealer you're buying from sells on his forecourt. If you've got the kind of car he specialises in, he'll be a little braver with the trade in price*.

(* by "he" I mean she/he of course)

The merc which is in a main dealer, is probaly costing him in the range of about 23,000-27,000. Which give more room to either give a discount or over value the trade in

The fabia which has writen on the spec coloum "Private sale no trade in" the chances are he is selling it for a mate and is taking a few hundred out of it and wont be to pushed to discount it.

I see, so the OP is better off trading in his car to a dealer that sells Peugeot's mainly than one that say sells more Renaults or Volkwagons etc ?
    Didn't know that!

I would say the best thing for me to trade in against would be another, gti, gt or similar. Or else a main peugeot dealership.

€7500 is alot better than I had expected, I was thinking low €6k range so anything around 7k would be good.

It sounds like a nice car. Does it have a/c?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,454 ✭✭✭mloc123

Mine? No :( seems a/c was only standard in the UK. There are a few of them here with a/c but none of the ones I looked at did.

That's not entirely what I meant. Obviously a Peugeot dealer is gonna give more money for another Peugeot.
The fact that it's a GTI will scare a lot of dealers, so many would be afraid to take it into stock. Unless they're the type of garage that is known to sell high performance and niche cars. You'll get a good idea of the type of garage they are by the stuff they're retailing on the forecourt.
