    Wasn't quite sure which thread to post this on boards, so this will probably be moved!:confused:

    I have a question regarding the receipt of overlapping social welfare payments:
    if one is in receipt of carer's allowance and about to reach 65 (age at which one can claim retirement pension), what are the rules regarding the rates (I presume they would be reduced).

    It's impossible to find this information on any of the websites. Thought someone might have an idea here of the exact conditions, before I go off and phone...

    IMO: They are not overlapping, they are 2 different payments, just because u reach 65 does not mean u get a reduced carers allowance
