newsgroups with utv?

Do newsgroups work on utv broadband? a friend of mine signed up for giganews or one of them but his download speed doesnt go past 0.1kbs, think its port 119 he is using. Just wondering do they block all newsgroup access?

AFAIR UTV have their own (butchered) newsgroup server. It has a very, very limited selection of groups. I think its something like news.utvinternet.ie or news1.utvinternet.ie

I would check but I can't access the UTV sites at the moment
