Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tasteless remark on Steve Irwin

I don't think this is a spoiler as it's not exactly going to spoil the show for anybody who hasn't seen this week's ECW yet but for those of you who have not, Matt Striker made a comment about the death of Steve Irwin on the programme which I found to be totally disgraceful.

When giving a promo in the ring about how smart he was, Striker stated he was smart enough to know not to go swimming in the ocean with stingrays.

Considering the show aired on Tuesday night and the man died on Monday morning I think this is a new low for Vince McMahon.

I don't blame Striker but rather the scumbag in creative (whoever it was) who deemed that comment to be necessary. At the end of the day Striker was getting enough heat and didn't need comments like that which only serve to bring cheap heat anyway.

I can recall the WWE doing this kind of thing before as I remember a promo by John Cena where he mentioned the death of John Ritter, the actor from 8 Simple Rules.

It pisses me off to think that the WWE can get away with comments like this and not have to answer to anybody for them. I don't recall ever hearing any comments being said about Vince's deceased father.

It's this kind of thing that makes me feel embarrassed to tell people I watch wrestling.

What do you expect from WWE? They're probably the most immoral company in the world. They used to just have kind of sick angles, like the Katie Vick stuff, but now they've gone further, with things like storylines based on Eddie's death

I think it was Edge a while ago, someone on Raw anyway, he made a similar sort of comment about an American footballer who had been in an accident and was on life support. I don't think it's right, even if it's supposedly just the heel's character saying this stuff

That's uncalled for. What a piece of **** company.

It's really sickening when they do have comments like that! It's so stupid when it is just a way for the wrestler to come off more as a heel! Very tasteless!

These type of tasteless segments are happening the whole time on WWE programming, so I dont see why people are all of a sudden holier than thou about it.

Fact is, WWE is bottom of the barrel programming, which appeals by and large to bottom of the barrel intellect. If it offends you, dont watch it.

    McMahon Apologizes:
On ECW.com, Vince McMahon issued the following statement regarding the comment Matt Striker made over Steve Irwin's death during Tuesday's ECW show: "We at WWE apologize for the remark alluding to the death of Steve Irwin which was made on ECW on Sci Fi Tuesday night. The remark was, in the least, disrespectful to Mr. Irwin's fans and family." Its being said that Brian Gewirtz came up with the comment Striker said on Tuesday's ECW show. Although, it was submitted to Vince McMahon and he originally approved it.

Gotta agree with you there, they take it to far and then say sorry on there website thinking it will all go away. It's still a sick thing to say and saying sorry afterwards isn't good enough. some broadcasting commision should start fining them for things like that, mabye then they'll kop on.
