Sorry, I did not read your question correctly, yes line rental would still have to be paid to phone provider.

Your line can only be unbundled if there's a company (such as Smart or Magnet) that have equipment in your exchange so that they can unbundle your line. Go to http://www.smarttelecom.ie/ or http://magnet.ie/ and check your phone number.

BTIreland don't seem to be marketing an unbundled service any more, but you can get 1MB DSL and line rental for a bundled price of €35, which is pretty impressive, considering that exactly the same "bundle" from eircom will cost you €54.something. If Smart is servicing your exchange, you'd get 3MB instead of 1MB for your €35.

ESAT / BT definitely did (do?) have an unbundeled offer, but afaik it was only for business user and only in certain exchanges.

Check with 'BT Business' or whatever, rather than relying on their published offerings.

Yes BT Business do a ULMP broadband products that turns your line into data only so you don't have to pay Eircom any line rental so you only pay for DSL.

The downside is its only BT LLU exchanges and it takes about 30 days for your line to be provisioned and Eircom to do the work (most of the wait is down to eircom) You also loose your number (obviously :) )

So if your looking to port it to a VoIP provider you must port it before beginning the process.

BT Broadband DSL costs €45 /month.

So you won't be saving much over the €35/month that they charge for the Home package that includes Line Rental.

The price is correct but please don't just compare it to a home page, its far from it (having used it for 24 months+)

Its a totally uncapped service* and it has a static IP, also as its a business service downtime is kept to a min and faults if they even happen are fixed pretty damn fast ;)

So its well worth it imho

*you could pull down the max the line can take in a 30day period and they won't say anything
