    Interesting one this.

Bulldog was an early LLU carrier in the UK and were bought 2.5 years ago by Cable and Wireless in order that C&W could get into BB .

The cost to C&W was £18.6m (€28m) back then.

Bulldog had a torrid time with their CS thereafter , particularly in 2005 so C&W decided they would be a Wholesale LLU Carrier only earlier partially to get rid of this pesky CS problem.

C&W eventually gave up that plan too and sold out for £12m or €18m today

Anybody who knows the general history of C&W from c.1996 to c.2006 would not be utterly surprised at all this :D

O2 UK OTOH picked up another LLU carrier Be for £50m or €75m a few months back

So far the dysfunctional LLU regime presided over by Comreg in Ireland prevents new entrants to the market or consolidation and upgrades like all those 24Mbit DSL packages in the UK .
