Best ADSL Router for low SNR lines

Does anyone have practical experience of a router than works well in Ireland on low SNR lines?

I've looked at http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/lowSNR.htm and http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm both of which are very useful, but are UK based.

I'm with Eircom and my SMC router reports:

Noise Margin: 15db (up) 1db (down)
    Attenuation: 63db (up) 52db (down)

    Line is 3072/384

Some days I have frequent disconnects, other days none.

Also do any routers allow the setting of a lower down speed, i.e. if one a day I get frequent disconnects at 3mb, I wouldn't mind temp lowering the speed to 2 or even 1mb if it stayed connected!

As far as I can see from reading reviews and people's experiences with routers it is virtually impossible to predict how any router is going to perform withh a particular line. Just have a look at the diversity of reviews here:

    www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk

With those line stats have you thought of dropping down to a lower speed?
