Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's available to stream for 7 days after broadcast on the radio1 site.

You'll need real player or media player classic to stream it and bit rates are < 90kbps. There are apps for recording streams out there if you want to rip it...

I never miss it, but I don't have a tuner card on the PC, so I never record it either. The buzz charts and the hot mix at 8.30 are always worth blowing the speakers for...

All depends on what type of soundcard you have. I used to use something calle OPd2d, but it doesn't work on my current external soundcard.

As for qulaity, it's a compressed stream....certainly not FM quality, and you won't be ripping tunes from it to play out, if that's your intention.

Christ on a bicycle...anyone listening to this travesty?

Scissor Sisters sitting in for Tongy...and they're sh*te, utter sh*te.
I like some of their stuff musically, but very litle of it falls into any category of dance that would qualify them as hosts for this flagship show.
They are brutal presenters and the tunes so far have been deplorable. Text ins? Porn names? Cheering in the studio like 12 yr olds? Fook that...

There's also talk of the ES being cut by an hour and not starting till 7....I like the way BBC shake up things every few years but there's some things that simply shouldn't be messed with...

atleast i think the songs are still picked by pete tong?

well anyways if he doesnt play on BBC he might get some more coverage Globally like from internet or like satellite radio

Songs were picked by these gimps from what I could tell....I switched off after 40 minutes....the first time I've ever done that.

At least it's just a one off.

He'll still be playing R1, it's just that the show is being cut from 3 to 2 hours.
He already gets global coverage through R1 which is available globally on the net and by satellite. The man makes far more money from live sets and I think he prefers it that way...

You can download every Essential Mix, Essential Selection, Blue Room etc every week from themixingbowl if you know how to use BitTorrent.

Does it f*ck...I've been listening to the ES for nearly 13 yrs now....2 hours isn't enough time to squeeze in the variety of stuff that Tongy liked to play and some part of the show is going to suffer because of it.

Fergie is leaving R1 too....his last show is on tonight....I never really catch his show but any time I did I enjoyed it. Though hard house isn't really my thing. He's doing his last show and the EM from Lush tonight....should be good.

Cut from 3 hours to 2 hours....starts at 7pm now and runs till 9....when it started way back when it used start at 7 and run till 10. Then they moved it back and now they're cutting it
He's doing another hour long show on thursday nights, a showcase for new music, so that's something...

[edit] No not the EM, the friday night show.

You don't want to find it...it's brutal. Tong doesn't suit scripted shows, the music ain't new for the most part, records rarely play out in their entirety and it's fragmented into a magazine type show with pointless features. I can't see Pete sticking with this format to be honest...

The BBC is dumbing down a lot with regards to Radio 1 since the new schedule....swapping Fergie for Eddie f*cking Halliwell? Shame.
