Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Let me start of by telling everyone that I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Linux. I've used Suse, Knoppix and some other distro's on an old machine.

Yesterday I installed Suse 9 on my Acer laptop (new tablet) and when its finished loading I just get a blank screen or sometimes a series of coloured screens (like a test pattern).

Anyone have any idea whats causing this ? I also can't get my old copy of Knoppix to load

hmmm, if you ctrl + alt + F1, F2 etc, can you get to a different console? that would be a start.

What the general said. The problem is probably a default resolution that your laptop can't display.

You'll have to change some settings in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file (or there's some command to set it up automatically for you, just backup that file first).

Can anyone help with this ?? I've since tried live versions of Knoppix and Madriva One and neither will boot

    I'm very confused.

The latop is a Acer Travelmate C310. I can't find much online.

Please help, I'm really starting to hate windows.

I'll have a squizz into this later on. :)

I'm surprised knoppix isn't working though.

Do you get a login prompt when you do ctrl+alt+F1?

I get the boot loader screen where I can select to run Linux, Linux (safe mode) or Windows XP.

The graphics card is an intel 915 with 128mb shared ram. I have no problem running Windows Media Center on it, so I don't know why its not even running Linux.

I tried Madriva 2005 (ltd edition) last night and even selected the correct vid card and resolution during the install. I set the colours at 256 and the res at 800X600 just to be safe. Then when I was finished I rebooted, got the boot loader screen and then nothing.
