    Hi, my boss recently suggested that there may be a position opening up in the USA. To be honest, I have absolutely no idea how the process of sponsorship works. I imagine I have to prove that no American can do the job I'm applying for and that I need some kind of legal representation to handle my case. I work in a specialist industury and there aren't many people working in my field. The company I'm employed by have offices in Phoniex and Ohio. Can anybody offer me some info on the various procedures I have to go through?

    Your employer will handle it if its a job transfer. You dont need sponsorship.

    "Sponsorship" afaik is a specific term which refers to immigrants who already have immidate family, ie spouse, sibling, mother or father who are citizens and can gaurantee them financial support. This is part of a green card application procedure. I could be wrong. Check the Department of State website.

    If your job transfers you to the US, your employer will have to hire a lawyer, fill out a **** ton of paperwork, to get you a working visa. They will do it. You just go with the flow and give them every ****ing piece of ID you have. [I just had to do that for a passport renewal and Im a citizen! God know what they demand from people overseas in job transfers. Ive seen files of this paperwork, all I can say is wow. Its A LOT.

    Your best bet is working for an Irish company that has offices in the US.

    American employers dont want to deal with the hassle and expense of hiring from abroad.
