Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

An awful mustard coloured M3 (I presume it was Genuine) that I followed from Limerick to Charliville a week or two ago.

    03-LM-3

Or, as it was written on the plate...

    03-L-M3

I have a picture on my phone that I'll post later.

IIRC that has been spotted a lot around the lucan/clondalkin area. Its more yellow than mustard IIRC.

Are they living here? A plate like that makes them stand out a bit so customs would be interested in them.

there was a clapped out Hilman Hunter in pagent blue that resided on the strawberry beds, dublin about 25-30 yrs ago with the reg VIP 2. IP was a carlow reg. Many enquires were made to purchase car but nothing happened.

Any one of you remember that car or remeber seeing it? (if your old enough)

Knew another chap in the grain business with a 280E merc reg no. IO 1020 as in 10-10-20 the fertilizer. IO was a kildare reg?...

That sort of reminds me of this Chevrolet Biscayne that I saw at a car show a few years back:

    1957_Chevrolet_Biscayne_State_Car.JPG

    On Cartell:

    Registration IRL1
    Make CHEVROLET
    Model UNKNOWN
    Description Not Available
    Engine Capacity(cc) 3860
    Fuel Type PETROL

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,326 ✭✭✭Bearcat

surely IRL 1 was not a genuine Irish reg whereas VIP 2 was??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,033 ✭✭✭Silvera

IRL 1 was a special-issue UK diplomatic plate issued in 1959 for the Irish embassy/ambassador in the UK. The car was later imported into Ireland by an enthusiast and still (legally) retains this number.
(Up to sometime in the 1960's/70's it was possible to import a Uk car and retain it's UK reg number).

VIP 2 is an original Kilkenny issued registration.
(Interestingly, VIP 1 found it's way onto the UK register many years ago and was bought by Roman Abramovich for c.£500,000 last year!)

That car gets around. I see it occasionally in Dublin Airport and have mentioned it here before. ;)

(I would also describe it as yellow rather than mustard).

Whenever I see a Phoenix Yellow E46 M3, I want to get sick!

And some of the colours you can choose for the interiors of M models are truly horrific. You think Phoenix Yellow is bad....

:confused: I have to conclude that such a particular "customised" plate would be totally lost on 99.9% of the general public (myself included !)

Ha, prob was our old car!! The ould lad bought a Nissan Sentra "KIT xxx" back in 1995. Cars registered in Leitrim during 1986 were all "KIT". I don't remember seeing any "TIT" cars on the road :D

^ Vehicles with Americans plates in this country seem to be getting quite popular recently. Saw a Chevy Silverado with Massachusetts plates recently, and another one with Texas plates too.

Even saw a Hyundai Elantra with New Jersey plates too!

No pics but saw a blue M3 last night with the reg M3 LAD. The M was the Msport logo.

Could have had something to do with this being moored up near to where I saw the car. Triple 7, the 74th largest yacht in the world. Well worth going down to have a look at it.Yacht_Triple_Seven511.jpg
