locking device??

97 Ford Escort. Failed the N.C.T. because of the "locking device" on the C.V. joint.Does anybody know where exactly this is, and if so, how to cure it? Had a look earlier, but everything seem's fine!!!

might be the split pin on the end of the drive shaft, check there is one on each hub nut.
