I take it they're all probably sold out now? Damn. And I was just thinking this morning about how I'd love a new car radio before seeing the offer.

Got mine this morning. Was devastated when I thought they were sold out, till I realised they were behind the counter. Works perfectly, Only problem is I got the silver one which doesn't look the best in my car.

I thought they were all silver? (Eventhough theres black ones on the ad). When I was given the silver I asked had they any black ones and they said no (Galway)

I think there was silver and silver/black.

Got a silver/black one in Finglas in ALDI a while ago.

Yep I got one this morning all worked fine, except it wouldnt accept CD's. brought it back and manager gave me one he had in the office, cd works fine but cant get the phone to come through the car speakers, unit will redial last number on phone but nothing else.

    Shame.

Same thing happened me. no sound from phone through the car speakers. Luckily I had my brother's one and tried it with the same wiring/phone setup. It worked fine so I just went back and got another one. That one worked fine.

It seems so fiddly to set up that you could be forgiven for thinking that it is something wrong with your setup, because everything else works ok.
It turned out to be really handy to pair with the phone. Once you have established a connection , all you have to do is press the talk button once when you get into the car, and it connects itself-magic.
I am the world's worst cynic, but this thing actually works for 130 quid. I'm amazed. Ok the first one I got was dodgy, but I didn't really expect it to work well at all, I was more interested in the aux in on the front.

I don't have to do that with mine?! When I turn on the ignition (and the stereo powers up) the stereo and phone automatically pair up?

One thing.. When you finish the call and either the other party hangs up, or I press the button it takes ages for the stereo to go back into audio mode, is there something im supposted to do?

I've got the ignition live to a permanent live, so I never have it powered off completely. that may be why I have to prompt it to connect. And yes, it is a bit sluggish to return to the radio after a call

I got one yesterday and fitted it. However it loses the saved stations when i turn off the key and it doesnt auto disconnect when i turn off the key. Is this the same in all of them? Also when i accept an incoming call it doesnt mute but just turns down the volume. Is there any way I can get it to mute?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,107 ✭✭✭✭Stark

That remote control seems pointless. It's bad enough fumbling for a remote control behind a seat when you're not in control of a tonne of metal travelling at high speed :)

I guess it might be handy if you had back seat passengers.

No it's banjaxed, bring it back to Finglas they had a few late last night.

By the way thanks stark for the tip, I've managed to get mine replaced in Finglas thanks to you, third time lucky new one works fine.

Anyone know if these are still available, and if so, where?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Cianos

Got mine today but the fcking thing doesnt work. All it does is take in and eject CD's. The power light on the back unit flashes when connected. Looks like I'll have to go all the way back out to Finglas

anyone any ideas cause i dont want to have to go taking it all out again spent ages trying to fit it in the first place..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,107 ✭✭✭✭Stark

I haven't tried it out myself but I'm a bit worried that the microphone is on the left hand side of the radio like it was intended for a LHS driver seat car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,666 ✭✭✭savemejebus

having a weird problem installing mine. got the cable adaptor, and hooked everything up, power light flashes on the unite but when I fit the front panel and press the power button (which lights up too) nothing happens. I'm stumped, tried 2 different units and have the same result which leads me to believe it's a problem on my end...Do ye's think the battery in my 92 starlet is too puny>

Sounds like your wiring is incorrect. You need to swap two of the wires, can't remember which off the top of my head though.

Fitted my Bluetooth Adli radio, it's all working like a dream, blue tooth is excellent. My problem is each time i turn of the ignition it loses it's memory. Now ive connected the permanent positive right cause the PWR light is left on when the ignition is of, and the ignition turns on and of the radio. There is an extra Blue wire in the ISO but don't know what to connect this to....im afraid il blow the arse of it...........Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!

I got the stereo for my passat and it works great.
I have a nokia 6230 but was thinking of getting a motorola v3x - does anybody know if the v3x is compatable(sp?) with the stereo. I know there was a fairly short list in the instruction manual of compatable phones but I cant remember if the v3x was one of them and of course now i cant find the list  . Needless to say I dont want to buy the phone and find that it doesnt work with the handsfree in the car!

    Thanks, Aidan.

think you'll find about a €170 price difference between the two ...

if however you know of a place where you can get the Parrot for less than €300 please share

Bought one of these and fitted it last month when they came out, pretty much a doddle to install. If your cars wiring loom doesnt match with the adaptor on the unit, you need an ISO connector, available at any motorfactors, i picked one up for €7.50, and the cables are labelled too.

Sound qualiy is great, even on my old corollas weak rear speakers.
Cd playback is fine, radio reception is as good as any i've heard.
I am having to crank the vol to about 50 to get a decent level, and thats not even ear splitting loud. Havent tried mp3 cd's or the front aux yet so cant comment.

Bluetooth: fine with my previous phone (SE W800i) once paired it connects as soon as i turn the key to ACC in the ignition (unit doesnt even need to be switched on) call quality is fine, but i've just upgraded my phone to the new W810i and found that tonight it was disconnecting and connecting a few times (i'm assuming cos i was watching the road not the phone, just heard it ping a few times!)

Doesnt have LW (but i dont need it)

Few minor gripes: apart from bass and treble, the eq is not adjustable and the preset dsp's might not be to everyones liking.

If you keep the phone close to the unit the person you're calling may hear the dreaded interference from having a phone close to a speaker.

It doesnt have LW, but then again i dont need that

All in all for 130 lids, its a bargain.

excellent, maybe this lidl one should get a new thread,
the hassle for me to get to an aldi store prevented me from getting the stereo the last time. ( i still have not returned my previously slightly broken head unit from aldi due to this reason )

Whe i do this it only tuner and CD come up? If it has the rca cable on the back it means it has Aux in, right? Havent got the box, instructions or model number so cant even check

This wont work, the rca is a line out for an external power amp.
