Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Suggestion for Irish wrestling discussion

I understand, and even agree with, the reasoning behind keeping discussion of each Irish promotion separate from each other. HOWEVER look what giving each promotion its own topic has degenerated into: press release/update after press release/update and only posts from the official members of each promotion as opposed to FANS. This is a fan forum designed for discussion and I think the treatment of the Irish promotions has cut-out any actual discussion of Irish wrestling.

The interest is obviously there though. The IwW topic is the officially the most viewed topic in the wrestling forum's history. People probably WANT to discuss Irish wrestling, but think that they can't because of the situation at the moment. Whenever there is a topic posted out of the designated threads there is ALWAYS a few responses.

So how about giving each promotion its own sub-forum within the wrestling zone? Let fans AND people advertising post and encourage discussion of Irish wrestling. Keep promotions separate to stop bickering etc, but let people chat in the comfort of their favourite promotion's sub-section.

At the end of the day boards is an IRISH forum and should put IRISH wrestling at the forefront, and this board has (let's face it) gone downhill FAST since that's been stopped. For the betterment of Irish wrestling as a whole, can we please make this forum something other than a cheap version of bigger and better forums and give people a new reason to click onto it?

I think that's a good idea. While I haven't been to or seen many Irish wrestling shows recently, when I have I like to talk about them, and the way it is at the moment does seem to discourage conversation

The problem that caused this situation was people badmouthing other promotions, right? Then why can't a rule about that be put in the charter and if anyone breaks it they get banned?

We'll look into it. nothings official till me or Ph3n0m announce it.

Sorry but does no one ever read the charter anymore?

    3. All Irish organisation upcoming cards/results/news to be placed into the relevant sticky. Discussions can take place in normal threads

Sorry but do mods read the threads anymore? Obviously fans don't feel that they can discuss Irish wrestling in these threads - as they're viewing them but very rarely posting. I just think the stickys are a horrible idea and a very poor attempt at a discussion forum that could be done a lot better in all honesty. It's a bit of wasted potential tbh.

The problem here is that we seem to be one of the main wrestling forums active in ireland that isnt part of one of these local promotions. So we have people from all these promotions on boards. And they make sly digs and start personal attacks all the time when let loose. So we need to keep everything in check. But yeah you are free to discuss all wrestling in the main forum, just keep all official press releases and news to their respective threads.

No, Bombidol, IMO it got ugly because Mods to a greater extent let it get that way.

It is of little point having a discussion forum for Irish Wrestling here if the mods cannot allow discussion and manage it without allowing it to spiral into nastiness. While the facility to discuss wrestling is great here, it doesn't auger well when we can post up about why we feel Raw and Smackdown are bad, talking about wrestlers substance misuseage or refer to Hogan as a "bollix" yet we collectively are unable to talk the up's and downs of local shows.

Certainly, we all here need to exercise maturity and some common sense, and some people will be unable to do that, but there is means and ways of dealing with them as needs be yet letting the more sensible of us get on with genuine discussion. And for the many of us who work with Irish promotions and have lineage to say, it will be a learning curve for us all if we can see what people are saying, both good and bad, about our work. If a twat head is onto a bitching session, ban him. Just let us all get on with talking some sense, please.

This is the problem, theres too many people involved in these promotions on these boards rustling up trouble. As Ph3n0m said, the charter already says you are free to discuss Irish wrestling freely within the boundries set in said charter.
