Digiweb broadband sites hanging problem

    This is with adsl.
I recently switched from BT and never had this problem with them,I left them for their hopeless billing system.

Basically when I first access a ste,it hangs for a few seconds before connecting to it and then it flies away as normal.

If I leave the site for a while, the same thing happens again eg firefox says "connecting to" for a few seconds before the broadband connection kicks in and the site flies again.

It's not a browser issue as its also happening with my new laptop.
It's not a firewall issue as it happens with that turned off.
All sites ping perfectly eg boards comes in under 40 with no packet loss so I know the line is fine.

Also curiously for a few weeks whilst I was live with digiweb,my BT password and account still worked so I tested surfing again on their modem and there was no lag-so its definitely a digiweb problem or a faulty modem from them.

    It's the zycel p600 wireless router/modem.

Anyone else have this problem before and how did you resolve it?

Though they are humming and hawing,I'm going to have to request they replace this modem.

could be an odd transparent http cache of theirs, make sure you tell them which sites are affected. what happens if you use https:// instead of http:// to the same sites, is there as much of a lag ???

Only about 5 seconds sometimes 6 or 7
Nothing serious but annoying none the less.

whats the internal ip adress range ??? if its 192.168.1.n or 192.168.0.n there can be confusion about gateway addresses , its best to use something odd like 192.168.134.n I finds.

I'm on digiweb 2mb dsl, and this only happens for some sites like boards, online banking. There's a pause of maybe 3 seconds before the page starts to load properly.
Most other sites are relatively instant.

    How long is the delay?
