But Shadow can't die!

Ok take you're mind back to final fantasy 6. Is there any way to save Shadow when the world gets destroyed? I've heard there is but could never figure it out. Also this happens to be the final fantasy I'm worst at so any tips, cheats or hints would be welcome.

when you are on that island thing in the sky and you are running away while the sh*t hits the fan when you get to the airship choose to wait instead of getting straight on. 10 secs later Shadow should be saved. It's harder to do on the PS1 version since the timer doesn't stop during the battle load times. Found FF6 very easy. Just keep switching characters regularly and make sure that you switch espers when all the spells are learnt. You need a big team of characters at decent levels for the last leg of the game.
