Is the Sporting Emporium over 21s?

That's me all out. For a couple of years.

I don't believe that the club is over 21s. I can't remember it ever coming up when I joined. Has anyone on Boards who are under 21 been refused entry?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

    I'm pretty sure it's over 21s.

    ill play this game.

so who will actually be running this? The SE or Ian and CO. ?

I presume with the 20 quid reg there will be dealers etc. Also, where in the SE will we be playing, the main area will be taken up by the normal Scalps tourny.

You can probably count me in...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Certainly not me. It is bein run by the SE. I'mm sure we'll be playing in the card room upstairs. The scalps game on a Saturday doesnt get particularly big numbers anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,434 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

I would imagine that the scalps game will be cancelled for the 1 Saturday in each month that the SE are planning to run the competition.

okay i'll play in it. Have being trying to stay away from the SE as I play in the Fitz and do the monthly sebatical up to drogheda for the Monthly €250 game. Its certainly shaping up for a good game, so its hard to resist.

You can become a member on the day. the old passport etc., needed i presume.

Hi Ian, I'll definetly be up at some stage(next one) as its a great structure but its on the same night as Steven has a €500 freezout in waterford and I'd like to support this and the €200 big slick event in Carlow on the following day.

Jurys at Christchurch/Pearse St/Parnell St, or any city Centre hotel would be convenient for the SE.

I can only imagine that getting your ass kicked in a humbling fashion every once in a while is good for a person's general well - being....tough field.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

so how does a freezeout work?

It's unlimited rebuys for the first ten levels. The number rebuy you're on is multiplied by the original starting stack to give you your new chip count, so rebuy 10 gives you 80,000 chips.

Do you get a scalp chip each time you rebuy?

Well it's rare you get a chance to play a good tournament with a decent structure with so much dead money.

Cant make it this time but am deffo on for it in the future. Quick warning - not sure if you need to be a member of the SE to play, but if you do I remember them being pretty strict on passport/driver license to become a member.

Am slowly talking myself into playing this tourney, as I'll be based in Galway (as of later tonight, eek!) until late October and won't get the chance again for a while. Anyone know of relatively cheap hotels near the SE? I'd stay with mates but I'm not sure they'd like the sound of: 'I will be back sometime later tonight, no idea when, could be 5am if I'm lucky!'

I don't see a problem - cash game till 6 after you get knocked out or tourney final table till about six (if you play well!!). Whichever. Then on to the Jackpot for cash games until about 10:30 or so. Nip across the street for a well earned beer and some breakfast and then get an afternoon train to Galway. You can sleep as opposed to admiring the fascinating midlands scenary.LOL.
