Wii details and poll

Just to move all the news from Nintendo over to Games (and most people probably know already) but the European Wii launch details has just been announced:

Date: 8th December
Price: €249
Bundle: White console, Wiimote & Nunchuck, basic connections & sensor bars, Wii Sports game, other bits and bobs like the stand, batteries, strap etc.

Games at €50-60, classic controller at €19, VC games not priced (likely to be €5-10)

So thankfully Europe will not get snubbed by Nintendo, as that Argos ad suggested just yesterday and while we'd all love to have it as early as the US I'm personally happy to get it before 07..

So with all the details in place, who plans on getting it at launch or before/for Christmas?

I too was going to complain about the lack of a poll, but then when the page loaded-KABLAMO! Hit right in the face with a poll.(where did the first complaint about a lack of a poll go?)

I shall be getting my wii on the 8th probably with too many games for my own sanity/personal life/job...but still, at least I definitely won't go buying a ps3 on a whim at the same time...

I'll be getting it for christmas and I just remembered the college exams are after christmas, no chance I'll be passing them unless every question in every test is about the wii. Likely?

I have no money and I've yet to preorder. If I preorder I'll probably be able to get the money from somewhere...hmm. Do Smyths do the 10% off consoles with their card thingy, or is it only for games?

I don't know if that means on the day or in the first month or two.

No mention of Batallion Wars II (BWii), Elebits, Excite Truck or Trauma Center: Second Opinion.

we will automatically lose €50 & knowing the irish market it will be
€263 or something stupid like that, & wasnt it meant to be a "cheap" console? i dont consider its price to be that cheap & for just a bit more you can get a 360

The way I heard it there's meant to be about 15 games released on launch day and another 15 or so released over 3-4 weeks.

how can someone vote "not until a AAA title" ? there has never been more of a AAA title at a launch than Zelda.

Ill have mine on the 8th definitely with Zelda and if Battallion wars is out possibly hat too. dont want to get too much because I wanna give all to the zelda game.

Madden looks like its gonna be very good too.

The difference in price is annoying. As I said on another thread, Eddie Hobbs should give Ninty a lesson in currency conversion. Anyway, at least it's cheaper then the UK (I know I just jinxed it )

This "launch window" stuff annoys me; it's great to know what will be out in the first few weeks but I'd also like to know what games are out on day 1... just so I know what I'm picking up with the console!

Kind of pissed off that they've pushed MP3 back to next year though, and I bet they'll hold off releasing Super Metroid for the VC until then as well...
Ah well, I just hope they make the most out of those extra few months.

Big 'meh' from me. None of the next gen consoles are yet compelling me to purchase them like the PS2 did with GTA3.

That was hardly a launch title in fairness.
Zelda, Trauma Centre and Monkey Ball at launch have made this easily the most appealing console launch that I personally have ever seen:)
Reckon I'll wait for a couple of reviews before going near Red Steel though

hmmm.. will probably get Red Steel, otherwise it'll probably be Monkey Ball, Trauma Centre, ExciteTruck..
