Sega finally showed off Virtua Fighter 5 playable on PS3 at an event on Friday. According to 1up, the game is arcade perfect as far as they could see :D

The game was also running off of actual PS3 hardware, not dev kits, which is pretty cool. Sega are also going to be releasing an arcade stick for it, which looks pretty sweet..and expensive:

1up have some impressions here, and more screenshots.

According to them, the game should be ready in Jan/Feb, which would line it up nicely to be a launch title here :) If it was coming out this year in Japan/US, I'd be even more pissed at the Euro delay!

This could be a big news for Sony. While people in America and Europe mostly go for tripe like Tekken, Virtua Fighter is way more popular in Japan. An arcade perfect port of VF5 could dramatically increase sales of the PS3. Remember when the stunning Virtua Fighter 2 port on the Saturn came out and sales of that console outsold the PS1 4:1 for months afterwards.

Possibly, it's certainly a bigger game in Japan, though not mega huge.

Sega seems to be giving their arcade ports some extra loving care on PS3 - today 1up is reporting that Virtua Tennis 3 on PS3 will run at 1920x1080p:

I'm surprised to see that happening already, it's a good sign.

gfx look great, although the pics dont have great detail on the screen.

GOnna wait and see what happens with ps3 US release whether or not to wait or get 360

In fairness, playing a demo for 10 mins at a trade show makes it near impossible to ascertain how perfect the conversation from arcade is..

Mind you, I loved VF2 so this can't be a bad thing.
