(NO NAMES PLEASE) . I genuinly used to think that he had some form of autism. I tried to make peace with the guy when I got off on the wrong foot, but typical him he is old fashioned opinionated and clannish just like a 1950's old woman, so I guess that's why I don't like him.
I aint the best to get on with meself but sur who is.
I always felt like an outsider there.

you were always a sound lad, I never had a problem with ya :)

splogs on the other hand, I never seen anyone have so many illnesses and find so many tricks for getting out of doing work.

and as for the monitor and stuff way up in the air, I'm sure he'd get some kind of deficiency if he hadn't them up there....or maybe its all for show...u decide lol

I always liked the lads on my team too :) I was just one moody bastard :D
But in fairness, I felt bad for yez when youz got that supervisor. I mean the lads on my team worked good and were good at what they done, yet they got penalized for taking 1 minute over their break, or being a few minutes late. I though ksprogg was disturbed from all the health web sites he had visited and suffered from what you would call ""need a damnice cream now syndrome'" :D

The supervisors need to be proper for their job in fairness. Supervising particulary in a call centre like AOL, requires a person who people can report to and feel safe is they are having job difficulties because of a personal issue outside of work. My particular supervisor didnt give me any support of allowance after I had got her proof that I had of issues outside of work.

L cement, in my opinion had no cop on at all. She would constantly do people over breaks and I felt very bad one day when she escorted two lads on my team to the door, I reported her over that because they were good at what they done, and I mean shift changes can mess your body clock up so minor flucuations in punctuality are to be expected; she had so little care for her employees issues that I was shocked!!
L cement was so sad one day, she came in 2 hours before she was due to start just to see a match for her own team play rugby. Now she'd make me cry if she was nice.
When I walked out because of the unreal way she spoke to me, she rang my house 10 times while I was in watchin telly. she got my mobile number and it was private.
Im glad youz lads are rid of her now coz I think she was the worst thing that happened to yiz. Whats the new sup like anyhows?

I'm going on 5 years in there now, its interesting at first, then frustrating for ages, then once your mind has turned to mush and you realize that all those little competitions are to make you work harder for the same money are a scam, its ok. I'm not sure if the human mind is suited to such repetition.

The latest thing they are pulling is performance related pay, which sounds like a good idea, but in fact they are putting just about everybody on the second lowest plan to save themselves money and making the top plans as far as I can see, unachievable (for example to get the top level you have to do lots of off the phone stuff but if you ever get off the phones your get bet with a stick until you get back on them). I'm still looking into the extent of how true that is but so far its working out that way (I'm familiar with the practice, its not new). Its very discourging when you find people in no skill needed jobs down the road who get paid 50%+ more.

In regards to mentioning peoples names, its seams a bit iffy, I don't think its a good idea especially if your still in aol. If my magical prediction powers are true this thread will be looked at by managers because its the only true employee survey.

The Indian call centre is the worst idea the aol managers ever had. If a customer rings through and gets an Indian they may as well hang up and try again. Because unless the problem falls exactly in line with one of the scripts (which it rarely does) the poor customer isnt going to get online today, they will just get angrier and angrier. When i explain to a customer (suger coated) that the last agent didnt fill in the necessary forms correctly they are usually ok with it because they know well they just spoke to knows less then they do and were reading off a screen. Its very common that a customer starts a call with "Oh thank god, you speak english".

I feel I would run AOL waterford differently and put more emphasis on retaining people who know what they are doing rather than recuriting new people who for the first six months to a year (no matter how smart they are) will cause nearly as much work as they fix.

I entirely agree with meadows. He hit the nail on the head. The performance related pay is a great idea if they acutally put those who are the pros and know the job inside out and back to front and been there for years like myself and meadows.

And aswell as that we may get a PAY CUT becasue of the new preformance related pay when they review it next March.

Completely agree with this ! whether it is looked at by the powers that be or not it may be looked at the person who is being spoken about and I can't imagine them liking that too much.

No, as far as I know you can't get a pay cut you have to be maintained on your previous wage agreement - you just may not get a pay rise.

Well as an AOL punter I have at times contacted AOL and either I have been answered by people in Waterford, Scotland or India.
Even then you can get transferred between the countries during the same call.
Cetainly when I hear the Indian accent I tend to hold my head in my hands and think will I understand the person concerned but it has not always been doom and gloom and some over there are very good at their job whilst others are just crap and you want to just hang up!!
