    Hi folks,

Bought a technomate 1500+,motorised system and 12 month ART card.
I have hotbird 13 on the screen,1st time box has been turned on,
but when I insert the art card,(1st time card has been used also),
    it says....
Initialising smart card.....Invalid Smart card....scrambled channel.
My question is, do I have to change a setting or something, or do I have a dud card?
When i go into menu, the last 'heading' is Smart Card (Conax), pressing 'ok' gets me 'slot 1'
    but with no other options

Edit:(Just had an e-mail from the seller of the card,he says i'll need a viaccess 2 cam, thats wrong surely??)

    Thanks in advance

    Dave

Latest s/w was aug 19 2006, Would a patch be required so quickly?

that patch should be ok maybe card is faulty or card is in up side down?

    Aquos76 where are you?

I think Art *DOES* use viaccess not conax. But I could be wrong.

A lot of boxes have viaccess embedded, old box might only be version 1.

You only need a separate Viaccess cam in CI slot if the embedded CAM and card slot doesn't work.

Imagine an engineer,in his mid thirties setting up a satellite system,
tuning in all the channels/satellites, and the putting the the card in upside down repeatedly for three hours,
thinking he was dealing with a sky box:D .

Note to anyone who gets an ART card, the blue shiny side with the lovely design goes Down.
Sorry for wasting your time and thanks for the replies lads.(Especially B)

Depends on model of box, honest. I guess try both ways when you get an unfamilar box.

Laptops and PCMCIA cards sometimes have the RJ45 socket otherway up... In dark awkward, then you can't unplug it without lifting laptop up.

Some designers just don't understand ergonomics.

    ART does use Viaccess 2.
Digitalb uses CONAX on 16e, maybe thats where your confusion is?
