Those of you using firefox, have you tried setting the network.http.pipelining flag to true?

I haven't noticed pages stalling for 10 sec+ since, but might just be a coincidence.

View /set the flag by entering about:config in the address bar.

Oh you mean the setting that absolutely hammers websites?

I thought it was just prefetching that did that. What's the problem with pipelining?

I've noticed no difference between firefox and ie (6 or 7). Loading times are poor to dire, most of the time. The rest of the time its ok.

    http://www.mozilla.org/projects/netlib/http/pipelining-faq.html
"Pipelining can also dramatically reduce the number of TCP/IP packets. With a typical MSS (maximum segment size) in the range of 536 to 1460 bytes, it is possible to pack several HTTP requests into one TCP/IP packet. Reducing the number of packets required to load a page benefits the internet as a whole, as fewer packets naturally reduces the burden on IP routers and networks."

It's off in mozilla/firefox by default, as a small number of old/embedded webservers might not follow the standard. But works with boards and does appear to be an improvement.

I have fasterfox set NOT to try and speedup boards - each page on boards is 'expensive' because of the number of database accesses that vB does. Be nice kids!
