Class!! Nice vid where was it taken.

I have a question regarding these gliders.

How much they weigh? roughly, that one for example.
And what are they made from hardly balsa is it?

That was Quality with a capital Q Fred. It's damn hard to film those gliders when they are soaring, kudos to the cameraman and the Pilot :)

    Thanks Nick, :)

The video has been taken on sunday in the Killakee mountains in Dublin. I think the U2 weight around 2.5 Kgs.. I'll ask Joe as I cannot remember... The only thing I know, is that is very light for this type of glider. The wind was gentle, and Joe had absolutely no pb to stay in the air.

The U2 fuselage is made in Epoxy Fiberglass from a Foam Mold. Wings are in foam + obechi sheeting.

By the way, for Nick, about the weight of gliders... That depend of the size (scale) of the glider...
My lightest one is around 150 grammes, and the heaviest is around 11 Kg.

But 1.5 to 3.5 kg will be a good average...

Awww we didnt get any shots of that!......... :D

definatly kudos to the cameraman he was zoomed in aswell! even more tricky.
    Cool wow 11kg!

I was thinkin it couldnt be balsa (excuse my ignorance) it would snap when landing.
Cheers for the insight, gone to have a look at the construction link.

He he he, there are more "secret" shots of the first flight... Not everything went good during the setup phases ! :p:p
Maybe one day, I'll do a video of all the missaps ;)
