I want to add some memory to my dell inspiron laptop I think its a inspiron 6000. I currently have 256 ram. I was thinking of adding a 512 module to this bringing it up to 768. Can this work or will the system just use the highest value only giving me 512 or even is it possible ill still only get 256 because the memory modules dont match. Any advice on this would be great...

I am not entirely sure but I reckon you are fine and should get 768mb when you are done upgrading, someone correct me if I'm wrong. The maximum your laptop can handle is 2gb for future reference.

go here http://www.crucial.com/eu/ , and use their system scanner. laptop memory is very specific so you have to get the exact module for your system. crucial make some of the best memory available and afaik its free shipping to ireland.
