US Spectrum auction is over with some €11Bn bid for 100mhz

Total bids received of $13.9Bn or €11Bn (for 300m people) which is €37 a head . http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-267467A1.pdf and all for about 100mhz of spectrum. Shades of the year 2000 3g auction in Europe :(

Lovely bit of specky trum but looks like the world has gone crazy again...

Funny thing specky trum, it is a finite natural resource so therefore difficult to cost - I guess it is worth what people are willing to pay.

$11b is a lot of cash though and at €37 per capita and a high price for mobility - interestingly FTTx costs in just above this in many parts of the US but the guys see wireless mobile as the way forward.

Wonder will Verizon just buy out the rest of Vodafone now, to complete the portfolio?
