    Hi,

where / how do you configure the settings of a cable modem.

i am connected to NTL via ethernet cable to modem to NTL box.

from other threads, related to configuring routers (wireless??), these are configured using IP address of router?? entering IP address on browser and configuring settings via browser.

how do i get IP address of cable modem?

    thanks.

You can't configure any settings on the NTL modem, access to it is blocked to the end user (you). What settings are you looking to change?

thanks. wanted to change/add to port settings. have 3 months trial on their 6mb line. connections speeds on P2P are rubbish - 5kb to 20kb per second. was reading that assigning port number 6888 would resolve this issue, increase download rate.

You change the port number in your P2P application. Not on the modem.

will it be necessary to create a new firewall rule then for the new port number?
