Kona Fire Mountain - Classic Kona geometry and lightweight 4130 butted cro-mo tubing.
18" (suits 5' 8" +) frame in Excellent condition - Paintwork is super and it doesn't look like it's ever really been used offroad.
Brand new Kona Project 2 forks just fitted or I can re-install the original suspension forks if you'd prefer.

Shimano Deore Chainrings and Cranks (big is 38T) - Spotless, almost unworn condition. - I'll swap it for a new 42T if you'd like
Shimano Deore 24spd shift pods, under-bar, seperate from brake levers.
Shimano LX Servo brake levers and V-Brakes - new pads just fitted
All new Clarks coated cables, brakes and gears.
New Bottom bracket, A-headset, wheel bearings etc.
Selle Italia saddle, Club Roost grips etc etc. I'm keeping the SPD pedals but will include new platform (standard type) pedals too.
The wheels are Shimano hubs with Mavic rims - Stong and quite light
Brand new Panaracer Fire XC Pro tyres....
New Kore XC low rise bars (not like the cheap flat bar that's in the picture - Much better)
Oh, new BBB 8spd cassette on the rear....New presta tubes...New Deore QR Skewers (Can swap for bolt in's instead). And I'll throw in a shackle lock if you want it...

This bike is really in excellent condition. Since I've rebuilt it, I've only brought it down the road to check the indexing on the gears and the drive-train is lined up properly. There's nothing to be done to it for a long time to come - Anything that wears on a bike was either replaced or rebuilt using the correct grades of specialist grease/lubes and spare parts.

Now, it's getting in the way of my other bikes and to be honest I'm just not going to have a use for it. I also need to replace my car so the cash would be handy, so it's up for sale.

In new parts alone there is literally €250 just gone into it - I probably have the receipts handy enough for it if you'd like 'em.

I'm open to sensible offers but I'd be hoping for something in the region of €350. This bike is really light (just over 11kgs) and the frame is the business. Don't be fooled into thinking any new bike you'd get for this money comes close to what this one is....They're worlds apart as many of you will know I'm sure. Anyway, pass the word on if you know of anyone who'd be interested in a bullet-proof bike for the winter or for commuting etc. In fact, I've mudguards for it too....

    Cheers,

    Gil

I don't think you're ready to part with it...

Seriously, though, it looks like a cracking bike. I'll pass the word on to a pal of mine who might be interested.

Might be interested in it myself but it may be to small for me, I'm 6'4".
Where abouts are you based for a test cycle?

Mental looking bike. Not sure about the tyres. I just think the red and green kind of crash. Green & black tyres would be deadly or even black & white.

Pity its too small, ill be looking for something like this in the future.

    Hey lads,

You could be quite comfortable on it....I wouldn't use it offroad as I'm 5' 9" and wouldn't have the stand-over height to keep the crown jewels off the bar ;) Also, the frame is quite a long reach anyway and I've a couple of stems you'd be welcome to try out to improve the fit. There's a riser and a 135mm XC to choose from for starters.

Also, I'd swap the tyres for plain black ones and knock a few quid off if it was a deal-breaker!

    Gil

BTW - Dundrum area, close to the Ballaly Luas station.

that is one good bike, i have a fire mountain too and they are great for use in and around town, you could put a 100mm fork on the front and it would be a amazin xc bike, there are some serious upgrades on it too, this bike if new would easily be e800+, you can do alot worse with e350 tbh

Thanks for that - It's a super bike indeed. In fact, I actually have a 100mm MX Comp with ETA that I was using on it before the rebuild. Nice combo indeed.

Someone's coming to have a look tonight. I'll let you all know.

Yeah, the bike is sold I'm afraid to a non-boards.ie buyer for pocket money.

Shame but it wasn't going to last long really at that price and condition.
